OUR SINGERS

SPECIAL THANKS TO

  • Sandra Smith

Our director, Sandra Smith, has taught singing, breathing and performing techniques to professional and beginner singers for over 30 years. Sandra set up The Lost Sound as she wanted to work with a choir of her own to find the essential ‘group’ voice - to find the balance of male and female voices whilst highlighting the colours and strengths of each.

  • Ros Johnson

Ros is our Administrator and makes sure the singers turn up at the right time, the right place and 90% of the time, wearing the right top, depending on whether they read the email! She handles the background workings of keeping a choir of this size going, creates our fabulous promo videos and we are very grateful for her good humour, skills and her singing!

  • Frankie Pollak

Frankie, in sopranos, took the choir in hand and created a new costume look for us back in 2018 and it continues to evolve around our singers. Her impeccable eye for design creates its own moving landscape as we sing and we love wearing what she has chosen for us.

  • Anne Pengelly

Anne designed our lighting rig and helped us learn how to operate it. We are very grateful for her expertise. Since leaving the choir she has set up many ‘open mic ‘ nights around South Devon (some of the best run ones there are!) See ‘Rhythm and Shoes’ on Facebook

  • KATE ISHERWOOD

Kate and Frankie are colleagues and are key to designing the wonderful official choir shots that we have done every couple of years. Kate lectures in photography at Plymouth Uni and has endless patience with us as we traipse across Dartmoor for that perfect shot! She manages to capture the ‘feel’ of our choir and some truly magical moments.

  • Our photographers

Mark Burley, George Birch, Andrew Lester, John Blackmore, Dom Moore and Andrew Welch. Thank you for allowing us to use your fabulous live shots on this new website. Capturing a choir ‘in motion’ is a very hard job. Thank you so much for coming to our concerts and taking great photos!
